Stephane Kélian is a French luxury shoe brand. It is characterized by a genuine know-how and a strong identity. A mix of female and male codes, with architectural lines and a mastery in weaving skill.
The Stephane Kélian woman is modern and curious about art, she seizes a style both refined and graphic. She likes structured and precise shapes, coming from male wardrobe. The Stephane Kélian woman is a modern, connected, curious and active woman .
The brand’s history is above all a family story. Three brothers (Goerges, Gerard, Stephane) sons of an Armenian dyer have fled the Ottoman Empire to come in France.
In 1960 the brotherhood Kéloglanian creates a shoes brand, exclusively for men. In 1974, Stephane Kéloglanian joins his two brothers, four years later , in 1978, they create together the women line under the name Stephane Kélian. (This is the contraction of the name Kéloglanian).
Stephane Kélian works for the biggest fashion houses from Issey Miyake to Montana or Jean Paul Gaultier.
Moccasins, platforms and braided leather are at the heart of the winning combination that propelled Stéphane Kélian to success until the mid-nineties. As the newly-appointed artistic director, shoemaker Rubens Bressanin set out to revive the House's trademark style, embracing the elegance and flair that had inspired him since the very start of his career.
Born in Italy's shoemaking region between Padua and Venice and boasting thirty years of experience in the art of shoemaking, the designer was inspired by the challenge posed by bringing this once-great brand back to life. From his very first collection, he managed to capture the essence of the brand and laid down the foundations for what was to become the Stéphane Kélian of the future. Expect pure, pared-back and architectural lines and a touch of femininity, harmonising with the androgynous feel that was long one of this famous French brand's hallmarks.
Drawing on his vision of respecting the past while looking to the future, the designer brings us a 2017/2018 winter collection that strikes a balance between minimalism and sophistication, inspired by the darkness of Tom Ford's latest film, Nocturnal Animals.
The concept? A new collection to take women from morning to night. Platform sneakers in patent leather, flat moccasins crafted from metallic leather or heeled ones in suede complete with fur, braided leather boots, ankle boots, thigh-high boots and heels in a vast selection of noble, precious materials.
Marking a return to the House's experimental side, Rubens Bressanin offers a new, ultra-comfortable and lightweight spin on the iconic platform, made from innovative materials. Another of the collection's star pieces is the 'Chantal' ankle boot. A classic boot with a subtle woven heel that takes on a divinely sexy feel when worn.
